When and why did you choose NETZSCH as your employer?
I studied International Management at Hof University of Applied Sciences and when I came back from my semester abroad, I wanted to bridge the time until the new semester and looked for an internship in Selb or the surrounding area because my partner was already living here at the time. I then completed this internship at another company. After that, however, I wanted to work as a student trainee. I had decided to move to Selb and therefore applied to NETZSCH – and it worked out. I have been working for NETZSCH since March 2018.
Can you tell us about your professional career?
As I said, I joined NETZSCH directly as a working student in the HR department in 2018. Then I also wrote my Bachelor’s thesis here at the company. After I graduated, a colleague of mine went on parental leave and I took over her position as HR Officer for NETZSCH Holding in April 2019. It was absolutely perfect for me. Studying and working merged seamlessly. My contract is now also being terminated. So I can also stay when my colleague comes back. Of course I’m very pleased about that.
Describe your current area of responsibility.
I handle all HR issues from recruitment to retirement. I am responsible for job advertisements, for which I always have to coordinate closely with the relevant specialist department. In this context, we consider, among other things, which channels are best suited to advertise the vacancies. As a personnel officer, you then manage the entire process behind the job advertisement. This also includes recruiting. Onboarding, the induction phase, but also dismissals and staff appraisals fall within my area of responsibility. My tasks also include preparing references. I am responsible for all these topics, among others.
What does a typical working day look like?
Does it even exist?
No, it doesn’t really exist. I always think to myself in the morning: I’m going to do this and that today. In the end, however, things usually turn out differently. There are almost always spontaneous tasks. Of course, there are fixed processes that are repeated regularly. For example, we take a daily look at our applicant management system and check which applications have been received. But there is no really fixed working day.
What do you find particularly challenging about your job?
The diversity is already a major challenge. You can’t really say that you have to be particularly fit in any specific area, but you have to be an all-rounder when it comes to HR issues. That was a big challenge for me in particular at the beginning. After all, I came here as a young professional and was previously a student. Even now, you still sometimes reach your limits. But I was never left alone at NETZSCH. Everyone here has an open ear and my questions are always answered. And above all, I see it as a great opportunity that I jumped in at the deep end. I think this enabled me to develop very quickly and I still do.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
In fact, it is precisely this diversity. It never gets boring. I’m constantly learning new things and feel that I’m being supported. I can get a taste of so many areas – that’s not a given. It is also a huge vote of confidence for me that I was able to join the company as a personnel officer straight after graduating. The best thing is that you will always find an open ear for new ideas here. There is no standstill, which is a great feeling.
Describe NETZSCH using 3 terms.
NETZSCH is a family business – even today. This value is truly lived. Flexibility – especially with regard to working hours and family friendliness. You always meet with understanding here. And regionality – despite the international importance of the company, those responsible attach great importance to working in the region.
Do you have plans for your professional future?
Above all, I would like to have a long future with NETZSCH. Especially at a time when digitalization is becoming increasingly important, I hope that I can contribute my own ideas and initiative. But basically I’m already very satisfied. I never thought I would be in such a good professional position today.
