Selb STEM Day 2026 at NETZSCH

What does it feel like to design your own workpiece? How precisely does a placement machine operate? And how does a digital idea turn into a finished component?

At the Selb STEM Day 2026, 20 eleventh-grade students from Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium Marktredwitz and FOS/BOS Hof had the opportunity to experience exactly that – right here at NETZSCH-Gerätebau.

Under the motto “MINT UP YOUR MIND,” the students gained hands-on insights into the world of STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and discovered potential career paths at NETZSCH.

From Idea to Finished Workpiece

After a short company presentation, the day began with a guided tour through our laboratories and production areas. It quickly became clear how diverse our work in the Analyzing & Testing business unit is – ranging from applications in the food industry and construction materials to solutions related to aerospace.

The program then moved on to practical activities:

Electronics: Our colleagues demonstrated live how printed circuit boards for our highly sensitive analytical instruments are developed and how the first units are manufactured in-house using our placement machine. The students were able to witness firsthand how an electronic circuit becomes a fully functional component.

Design & Mechanics: From creating a CAD drawing of a bottle opener to manufacturing it in our training workshop, the students followed the entire development process step by step. Turning, milling, and soldering were all part of the experience – and for many, soldering was the highlight of the day.

More Than Just Technology

In addition to the practical insights, personal exchange played a central role. Our employees shared their own educational and career paths, answered questions about study opportunities, and provided honest insights into their daily work.

Promoting young talent is especially important to us. That is why we are proud to take part in Selb MINT Day every year and inspire young people to explore technology. Because STEM is more than just a buzzword: STEM is the future.
